Program areas at School of Leadership-Afghanistan

Sola is the only boarding School on earth educating afghan girls at the secondary level, offering students academic instruction and on-campus housing. Originally based in kabul, sola evacuated its community of nearly 250 students, faculty, staff, and family members to rwanda in august 2021 in response to the taliban's takeover of afghanistan. Sola's operations have resumed in rwanda, in a facility under an extended stay lease (including lodging, meals and laundry for all residents). Currently, approximately 80 girls are living and learning at sola under the care and instruction of afghan, american and european expats, and rwandan educators and student life professionals. If at some point in the future the security conditions in afghanistan change, sola will consider returning to kabul.sola's program was established to narrow the significant gap in educational quality yet now it provides education to afghan girls who would otherwise have limited or no access to education. In order to properly administer its program activities upon arrival in rwanda, sola (through sola for afghan girls) registered as a private company limited by shares, under the name "sola ltd". Sola promptly began the process of applying for international non-governmental organization (ngo) status with the rwanda governance board. In subsequent year activity, that status was granted on march 9, 2023, in the registered name School of leadership afghanistan (sola).
