Program areas at Scenic America

Affiliate programs - fighting billboard blight; Scenic byways workshops; reducing visual intrusions; protecting open spaces; building a national Scenic conservation movement. Since 1982 Scenic America has stood alone as the principal proponent of the idea that many forms of outdoor advertising are blight on american landscape and disrupt the fundamental character of our communities.

Communications, media information, and youth education - education and research relating to conservation and preservation of the natural and urban Scenic environments. Scenic America provides a clearinghouse of information on visual and environmental issues through publications, its website, Scenic educational meetings, webinars and conferences, and the development of viewfinders, a web-based student curriculum.

Policy and advocacy - to develop public policy on national Scenic conservation issues. Scenic America works to be in a position to offer substantive technical and policy support to communities, organizations, governments, attorneys, and individuals seeking ways to control billboard blight and other visual intrusions and to combat the assaults on landscapes and cityscapes.
