Program areas at Sawhorse Revolution
In 2022 Sawhorse Revolution welcomed back working in-person with our youth and community members alike. The organization was able to hire on several new employees, immensely increasing the number of community and industry partners along its side. Sawhorse worked with 100+ students furthest from educational justice in pandemic-adapted architecture and construction programming. For the first time, Sawhorse Revolution students built a long boat dedicated to the Heron's Nest Outdoor Education Camp to help clean up the Duwamish River of pollution. Students entered the world of design/builds with the RELAB program, where they designed and built a mobile kitchen unit for Camp United We Stand - the county's longest-running community of people experiencing homelessness. The students took on an addition to last year's social justice library project, Estelita's Library, and made it accessible by adding a bathroom, deck, ramp, and storage room.Highlights also included students completing a beautiful tiny home, complete with shelving and a front porch, and continuing the work on a new arts center designed for Deaf Spotlight, a group that serves the deaf, deaf-blind, deaf-disabled, and hard of hearing community.
