Program areas at Saint Francis of Assisi Food Pantry
The mission statement of Saint Francis of Assisi Food Pantry is "we are our brothers and sisters' keepers". The Pantry's objective is to provide needy households with fresh nutritious Food to alleviate hunger, improve nutrition, mitigate chronic health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes, and assist in moving low-income families towards greater self-sufficiency. To support these objectives, the Pantry provides fresh Food and non-perishable Food to needy families in the reno/sparks area of northern Nevada at no cost to them. In 2022 the Pantry provided free Food to 13,356 households who came to the Pantry for Food assistance for a total of 32,527 individuals. The Pantry also provides the following items to their clients at no cost to them: toiletries; cleaning products; baby Food and baby diapers; pet Food; and donated used clothing and used household goods. The Pantry is open to clients three times each week along with evening hours one time per month. The Pantry is staffed by volunteers and raises funds to support its mission.
