Program areas at Ruth Lyons Childrens Fund
Children's Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio. Provided the hospital's Child Life Department with a $40,000 grant to maintain daily activities and programs throughout the year. Such activities include pet therapy, arts and crafts, holiday parties, pizza parties, birthday gifts and a day shopping with Secret Santa. In-patient pediatric patients are also given individual gifts such as books, puzzles, or small board games to take home upon discharge from the hospital.
Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. A one-time grant of $1,500 was provided for the hospital's 2nd annual NICU Unit Halloween Spooktacular event in October 2021. With a patient census of 60 at the time of the observed holiday, each baby was gifted with a Halloween costume . This event helps uplift the mood in the NICU unit not only for the families but also the healthcare team. The costumes were given to the families to serve as a keepsake item and milestone marker during the newborns stay at the hospital.
Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. Provided the hospital with a $40,000 grant to continue the unique gifting project whereas the hospital provides each family that has an infant in the NICU unit with a handmade personalized quilt. The quilt has the Ruth Lyons logo embroidered in the corner. The infants also receive embroidered Ruth Lyons Children's Fund onesies and sleepsacks. Both items serve as family keepsakes. The NICU unit also provides various books, journey beads, bottles and other appropriate items that assist families in caring for their newborns.
