Homeless Prevention and Shelter Services - Our Shelter Services Coordinator assists those people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. They determine needs and work to determine what kinds of assistance RCAM can provide. Example of services are eviction prevention, prevent electric service disconnection, partial rent payment or security deposit, heating fuelwinter months only, food pantry contact and where to find clothingh and furniture. RCAM operates a two-unit duplex shelter for homeless families. The families may stay in the shelter for a limited time. The Transitional Unit is available to one family for up to two years. This family most often is one that has stayed for a bit of time at our homeless shelter and needs additional time to seek employment and all that is needed to sustain independence.
HOME is the acronym for RCAMs Senior Residence House. Homeless or at risk of being homeless seniors 55 plus or disabled individuals able to perform activities of daily living may enter into a subsidized lease to stay in one of four units in the senior house. Residents share the kitchen, dining room, laundry area, and living room. Each unit includes its own bathroom, mini refrigerator, bed and small dining/sitting area, allowing residents to enjoy privacy as they chose.
Our Housing Services offer low cost repairs to respond to the need of low-income individuals, families, elderly or differently abled clients by providing minor home repairs and housing rehabilitation. The work is done by professionals and volunteers from the immediate community to across the country who work to support and assist all RCAM services and clients.
