ROTARY INTERNATIONAL - 6780 District

Scholarships and Education: Rotary International directs our efforts in six areas to enhance our local and global impact. One of our most successful and sustainable areas of focus is supporting education. Our goal is to help promising students become leaders and experts in fields focused on sustainable change through scholarships. along the way, we hope to cultivate relationships in our community and mentor some outstanding scholars.

Heart to Heart is a program which is a collaborative partnership between 27 Rotary Districts in the US and two Rotary Districts in central Mexico. The purpose of this initiative is to provide humanitarian services, primarily through Rotary Global Grants. Examples of these grants include Kidney transplants, pacemakers, basic learning skill workshops, neurological center equipment, cleft lip and palate surgery equipment, low-cost shelters, positive peace training and development, school renovations, clean water projects, and wheelchairs.

Youth Interact Conference: Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 12-18. The program gives its members (Interactors) an opportunity to participate in meaningful service projects while developing leadership skils, meeting new friends and having fun. The conference is the highlight of the year and a time for clubs to come together and celebrate the accomplishment of Interact objectives such as: Encourage and practice thoughtfulness and helpfulness to others Create an awareness of the importance of home and family Build respect for the rights of others based on recognition of the worth of each individual Emphasize acceptance of individual responsibility as the basis of personal success, community improvement & group achievement Open avenues of personal and group action leading to the advancement of international understanding and goodwill of all peoples Recognize and develop constructive leadership and personal integrity.

Each year, the District holds an annual District Conference which consists of the annual business meeting and other sessions. This year, the expenses were $36,420 and the revenues were $26,045. It is designed to inspire and inform Rotarians at the District level, while advancing the strategic goals of Rotary Internation, the District and the Rotary Foundation. The income The proceeds from the silent auction held at the conference and from fees for the golf tournament are donated to the Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus mission of eradicating Polio. A total of $5,370 was donated to polio, and was included in the expense number above. The balance of the program expenses were for training, expenses of the District Governor for making inspirational visits to various clubs, and other committee expenses.
