Last year we served 3,812 families across our five locations, providing $3.4 million in savings to overnight families and $340,000 in savings for day-use families. In addition, as noted on family surveys, 98% of the families we served rated our programs and as 'very good or 'excellent', felt 'better supported' because of our services, and felt 'less stressed and better able to cope' with their child's health crisis due to our programs and services. Lodging: The Ronald McDonald House-Oak Street in Minneapolis features 48 private rooms available to families living at least 40 miles from the Twin Cities. Last year it served 578 families, provided 8,788 nights of lodging and saved families approximately $2.1 million in lodging, meals, basic daily supplies and more. The average length of stay was 77 days. Lodging: The Ronald McDonald House at Children's, Minneapolis is an in-hospital facility with 15 private rooms that serves families with a child in the hospital's NICU or PICU. In 2022, it served 2,458 families, accommodated 5,896 visitors, provided 4,620 nights of lodging and saved families more than $1 million in lodging and meal costs.Lodging: The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare, with four overnight rooms, serves the pediatric trauma and disability community. In 2022, this location supported 524 families, provided 1,165 nights of lodging and $230,000 in cost savings.Lodging: The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Children's, St Paul, with four overnight rooms, primarily serves families from the east metro, including western Wisconsin. In 2022, this site served 138 families, provided 1,325 nights of lodging and $274,000 in cost savings to families.Lodging: The Ronald McDonald House Northland in Duluth, MN opened in February 2021 to serve families with children undergoing treatment at Essentia Health. Last year it served 114 families, provided 717 nights of lodging and $178,000 in cost savings.
Family Services: The RMH School at RMH-Oak St. provided 646 student days last year, with most of the students in grades K-5. In addition, the after-school program provided 381 student days. In 2022, the Family Service team increased the number and variety of activities and events offered at all five locations the most popular included in-person and virtual Bingo, arts and crafts, movie night, adults-only Caregivers' Nights, Camp RMH summer programming, adult exercise classes and more.
Volunteer Services: In 2022, approximately 4,600 individuals worked more than 27,000 hours in support of our mission which is the equivalent of nearly 13 full-time employees. The growth in volunteer support was partly due to the reinstatement of the Cooks for Kids program late last year, allowing small volunteer groups to prepare and serve meals at three of our five Minnesota locations. Other volunteers served as delivery drivers, administrative assistants, event workers and more.
