Rmhc scholarships rmhc awards college scholarships to deserving high school seniors and continuing college students from clark and nye counties who demonstrate a financial need and who might not otherwise have the opportunity to receive a higher education. These scholarships are funded, in part, by proceeds generated through the sale of happy meals and Las Vegas review journal newspapers in Mcdonald's restaurants. In addition, community partners contribute funds. Eighty-nine (89) high school graduates and returning college students were awarded scholarships in 2022.
Family room rmhc also provides a temporary "home away from home" at the Ronald Mcdonald family room at sunrise children's hospital in Las Vegas. The family room is approximately 1,400 square feet and is located directly down the hall from the neonatal intensive care unit (nicu), keeping families closer than ever to their hospitalized babies. The family room offers a peaceful home-like environment where family members can take short breaks away from the often tense and chaotic medical setting, yet remain steps away from their baby's bedside. The family room offers overnight sleeping and daytime napping rooms, toiletries, showers, lockers, a comfortable lounge area with sofas, recliners, tv, children's games and books, a kitchenette, dining area, and computer work stations. Coffee, tea, and cold beverages, along with single-serve meals and snacks are available at no cost to our families, as well as our healthy sack lunches daily. In 2022, the Ronald Mcdonald family room provided a place of respite to 4,890 family members.
