The Society functions solely to support the efforts of Riverbanks zoo and garden, a governmental entity that owns and operates a public zoo and botanical garden. The Society provides funds to Riverbanks derived from membership sales and fundraising efforts. Funds provided supplement and enhance the value and offerings of the zoo and garden. The Society makes additional small grants to further conservation efforts when so directed by Riverbanks.
