Program areas at River La
River LA was awarded a California State Parks Outdoor Equity Grant supporting the city of Compton. Some of the programs include taking 2500 youth to state parks and environmental and wildlife programs. River LA has organized camping trips, hikes with wolves, education in gardening and outdoor sports. The impact of the program is significant and life changing for children who have never ventured more than a mile from their homes.
The Water Forum is a five year project to convene around water issues. This is a forum that will bring together key decision makers in California, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico to move forward with well-defined goals and solutions to shared water challenges and to ensure that our new Los Angeles and California water platforms that address infrastructure, community outreach and needs, equity, and programs being led by Prop 1 to build structure to capture, store, clean and reuse water succeed.
DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTI-USE HUB WITH NET NEGATIVE GOALS THAT WILL PROVIDE A LOCATION FOR JOB TRAINING TO IMPROVE COMMUNITIES ALONG THE LOS ANGELES RIVER IN TAYLOR YARD, The 100 Acre Park being built directly adjacent to the Los Angeles River on the largest contiguous piece of land left on along the river. This park represents the largest open space undertaken in Los Angeles since Griffith Park in 1896. River LA was asked by the city of Los Angeles to lead the Friends of Taylor Yard Capital campaign to support this remarkable project and we have an MOU for our work, approved by the city council.
