Program areas at Restoration Village Arts
Restoration Village Arts Fellowships: Music Ministers were provided with retreat space and extensive strategic planning workshops as well as provided grants and support for touring and the sharing of work in front of multiple audiences. The Ministers on Staff for Restoration Village Arts gave talks, sermons and workshops in churches, at universities and seminaries, for multiple national and global media outlets, and to community groups on the work of Restoration Village Arts, the work of Congregate, and more broadly the issues and artistry that RVA works on. RVAs networks of support were greatly expanded in this work.
Congregate: Restoration Village Arts spent six months co-creating and providing fiscal sponsorship for a new organization, Congregate Cville, and supporting/promoting its lead organizing minister. Congregates mission is to resource people with tools and training for civic advocacy, public engagement, and education within institutions (e.g. churches, community groups, universities). Congregate has now been successfully launched as its own 5013 organization.
Just Love Music and Liturgy Development: In partnership with churches or other organizations, Christian worship songs are composed and liturgy written around themes and guiding Biblical texts. Sessions are planned and rehearsed. Music ministers lead worship over the course of the events and gatherings. Printed and multimedia material are also prepared. New Christian music for worship and religious development was composed and recorded. Ministers were also supported in the production of religious music and worship resources including recording of music, production of CDs, art design and physical duplication.
Residencies and House Concerts: For six months in 2017, Restoration Village Arts retreat suite was occupied by artists or ministers advancing individual and/or community projects as part of their residencies. Additionally, two artist/ministers were supported remotely for projects they worked on in Panama and Oakland, CA, respectively, over a period of several weeks. Three house concerts/presentations were held at organization headquarters for a total of 120 community members to engage artists/ministers doing residencies.
