Program areas at Queen City Bicycle Collective

Open shop/affordable bikes:qc bike provides "do-it-together" bike repair services for our community. The tools are in the bike user's hands, whenever possible. Our repairs are done with mostly recycled parts, culled from donated bikes. There were 1,288 documented service visits by 734 unique individuals in the last year. Additionally, we sold 161 refurbished bikes, during this period; 107 of those were sold at a discounted price (average price after discount - 135), to make them truly affordable
Vouchered bike programs: qc bike offers various vouchered programs, supported by grant or donor funds, where a bike package (consisting of a refurbished bike, lights, lock, and helmet) is provided free, or at a nominal price, to the end user. Our largest such program - earn-a-bike - saw qc bike deliver bike packages to 97 high-achieving 4th & 5th graders at two manchester elementary schools in may 2023. During the year, we prepared a record number of bikes and alternative "be active" packages (225) to meet a huge increase in the students served by our 2024 earn-a-bike program.
Community outreach: qc bike continues to expand our efforts to cultivate and nurture the bike community in manchester. We offer regular, community group rides. We have held and/or participated in many local events, including by providing bike parking at City events. We bought and coordinated the installation of bike repair stations, pumps, and bike racks at various locations, throughout the City, including downtown and at City schools. Last year (2023), saw us host our first annual tour of manchester bike ride. It was a resounding success; we had 163 riders and 27 volunteers who all helped to make a memorable community event that we plan to repeat in september 2024.
