Program areas at Puerto Rican Family Institute
The head start program currently serves 1,800 children through its 46 centers located in new york and Puerto rico, in 15 municipalities including san juan, corozal, bayamon, trujillo alto, ciales, rio grande, and caguas. The prfi head start program is a center-based, full day program designed to provide pre-school children of low-income families with a comprehensive child development program to meet their educational, emotional, social, health and nutritional needs.
Prfi provides services to the developmentally disabled population through the provision of quality community based residential services which aims to provide skills that will enable residents to live as independently as possible.
Mental health program services provide bilingual bicultural outpatient treatment services to children, adolescents, adults and their families at state licensed clinics that operate in manhattan, bronx and brooklyn. Services include individual and group psychotherapyy, marital and Family counseling, medication management and psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, and case management.
