Program areas at PERC
Research and publications - percs academic Research is at the forefront of all our efforts to improve environmental outcomes. We treat Research as the first stage in a multi-stage process to develop effective conservation policies and strengthen conservation practices.as a result, our solutions and initiatives are based upon rigorous Research from a diverse group of scholars and practitioners. Core Research areas include issues related to land use, water, and wildlife. Specific focus areas include forest management, public lands funding, private conservation, wildlife migration, water management, and endangered species recovery.a major source of both outreach and Research comes in the form of percs multi-day Research and idea development conferences. The solutions and publications these conferences generated (or will generate) infuse into both the academic debate on conservation and integrate into conservation policy and practical conservation outcomes.percs in-house Research initiatives are augmented by visiting scholars from universities and conservation organizations around the world. In 2022, we hosted 81 scholars working on timely conservation Research. Details about our fellowships can be found on our website, www.perc.org.
Law and policy - perc continues to expand the impact of our Research finding through engaging policymakers through our law and policy Center. Launched in 2022, it contributed to developing 12 policy reports and publications in 2022 and dozens of public comments and related work. These resulted in invitations to present before key audiences, including congressional testimony, and filing of agency comments andamicus briefs.
Outreach and applied initiatives - the objective of perc's outreach is to disseminate to targeted audiences the ideas generated by our researchers, fellows, visiting scholars, and enviropreneurs.perc's solutions generated significant interest and attention from major mediaoutlets in 2022. This helped expand the reach of our ideas and advance changes inconservation approaches. Successes included launching/implementing wildlifeoccupancy agreements and a privately funded brucellosis compensation fund toprotect vital migration routes in paradise valley.details can be found on our website: www.perc.org. Perc's outreach efforts arenot confined to in-house publications; perc spreads its ideas by publishing articlesand op-eds in popular media outlets and conservation publications.
