Placemaking program:the placemaking program seeks to give everyone the opportunity to shape and improve the Public Spaces they use everyday through partnerships, training, convening, and research.in 2022, Project for Public Spaces built upon its decades of experience working in partnership with foundations and corporate social responsibility programs by continuing the community placemaking grants initiative. With support from general motors and the walton family foundation, this initiative aims to provide financial and technical assistance, as well as capacity building opportunities, to placemaking nonprofits improving access to Public Spaces around the united states. Additionally, Project for Public Spaces offered placemaking technical assistance to Public space management organizations around north america including buffalo, ny; san antonio, Texas; and chickasaw, Oklahoma; and offered a placemaking training course online, titled making it happen, to over 170 participants.
Market cities:the market cities program seeks to improve Public policy and on-the-ground practice regarding Public market systems around the world. It is an evolution of the organization's former Public markets program, which began in 1987. In 2022, market cities continues to publish a bi-weekly e-newsletter and held its first online training course, titled how to create successful markets, to over 130 participants. The program is preparing to produce a conference in 2023, which will include the launch of a new market cities network to connect industry professionals. Additionally, the market cities team provided techical assistance to martkets in hamilton, ontario and portland, Maine.
