Program areas at Progressive Technology Project

Powerbase: with more than 140 social justice/organizing groups using it, powerbase, based on the open-source platform civicrm, is the holistic database program that ptp developed specifically for community-based organizations to manage online and on-the-ground organizing, communications, grassroots fundraising, voter engagement and advocacy efforts. The program offers database migration services and hosting with training webinars, individual organizational trainings, face-to-face peer trainings, and on-going technical support and coaching and is focused on growing Technology skills, systems and leadership organization-wide. Political development and communications around programming are also included in powerbase program expense.
Movement development & Technology leadership programming: in partnership with other movement organizations such as may first movement Technology, ptp works to educate and build skills within the social justice movement around the strategies and politics of secure, open-source and non-corporate technology.ptp provides technical and online security services to its partner groups. Through our partner level support we provide leadership skills building and development to create 'power users' with advanced skills within dozens of organizations. These other programs and Technology leaderships trainings are offered as a compliment and as a subset of the holistic powerbase program and may include elements from ptp's reverb communications training, grassroots fundraising training, voter Project, the partnership Project, people of color techie training program.
Civicrm development: ptp participates in the development and improvement of the open source software civicrm upon which the database, powerbase, is built. Through this work, the organization serves all of the community based organizing groups that use powerbase by regularly improving the tool, providing timely updates and upgrades, and working with the powerbase and civicrm communities to add new necessary features to the database for the benefit of community based organizing groups across the country.
