AIDS Drugs Assistance Program AIDS Arms is a Covered Entity as defined in Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act, and as such, is authorized to purchase for dispensing to eligible patients, certain outpatient drugs from Covered Manufacturers at reduced prices pursuant to the federal 340B drug discount program. AIDS Arms has contracted with Avita Drugs LLC to provide outpatient pharmacy services under a sublease arrangement at its Sunset location. AIDS Arms has also contracted with Walgreens to manage and dispense 340B Drugs at two Walgreens locations in Dallas. The program has two components. The Ryan White component covers drugs dispensed to patients who have no third party insurance. In this case, drugs dispensed to eligible patients are reimbursed by Ryan White Program grant funds. Care Coordination The care coordination program provides a range of client-centered services that include the provision of education and assistance in obtaining access to medical care, social, community, legal, financial, and other needed services. Care coordination includes screening for eligibility, development and implementation of care plan based on clients identified and emerging needs, and also crisis interventions. The program focus remains linking and retaining clients in medical care and to achieve and maintain life stability and to improve health outcomes. In 2018, AIDS Arms served 1,659 clients with 27,424 care coordination units.
Medical care AIDS Arms delivers comprehensive and innovative HIV medical care to all individuals regardless of income or having health insurance under the patient-centered medical home concept. The medical home concept is the strongest evidence-based practice proven to retain people in HIV care and achieve optimal clinical outcomes. Since 2001, the Agency has received federal funding through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program to provide medical care. It now operates two medical clinics, one in South Dallas and one in Oak Cliff, the two of which are in heavily impacted neighborhoods in North Texas. In 2018, both medical clinics served 2,195 patients with 7,818 medical visits.
