Program areas at Preucil School of Music
The Preucil School of Music provides music instruction, lessons, programs, workshops and recital opportunities for nearly 630 students ranging from newborns to adults. The school's objectives is to provide music to students at a young age, encourage them to learn music much like their native language, and provide the ability of all individuals to improve their musical talents. The Preucil School of Music is dedicated to the development of ability in all children. The School teaches according to the philosophy of Shinichi Suzuki, who has proven that particular talents are not inborn, and that all children can develop their abilities in music and other areas to a high level if they learn in the manner that they learned to speak their "mother tongue." The Preucil School offers excellence in early childhood education and music instruction for students of all ages in a caring, nurturing environment. It helps parents and children to share in the learning process, serves as a center for involvement in varied early childhood and musical activities, and attempts to create a rich musical and educational environment in the community. Preucil Preschool is a play-based fine arts preschool, inspired by the Reggio approach and the Suzuki Method. The Preschool focuses on creativity, imagination and exploration. The goal is to help each child grow and learn in all areas of human experience as it fosters cooperation, caring, confidence, action, intellect, knowledge, beauty, and inherent motivation. Preucil School offers Music Together(R), an innovative early childhood education program known nationwide and around the world. Using the playful and carefully thought-out series of Music Together classes, specially trained teachers guide young children and the grownups who love them as they experience rhythm, song, culture and community. Each class brings together a small group of parents or caregivers and their children newborn to age 5, guided by a teacher who provides the music, tools and guidance. The "Community Engagement Program" takes the Music Together(R) (MT) program to local parks during the summertime to provide music to underserved children in the community. This program was put on hold in 2020 due to COVID-19, and remains on hold to date. Traditionally, families are able to participate in the park programs for free. This is made possible by the generosity of our donors. The MT program is also provided for free, three times a year, to families enrolled at the local Headstart. Preucil School also provides a music program to the Horace Mann Elementary School's Preschool program during the academic year. The School hopes to eventually bring these community engagement activities back to the parks, Headstart, and Horace Mann Preschool. The Preucil School believes music training is life training, of equal importance to all children regardless of economic status. It aims to keep tuition affordable, and offers aid to those students in need of assistance who demonstrate a desire to learn.
