The mission of the kate grana music & arts association ("kgmaa" )is to create a state-of-the-art hub for the music and arts by initially improving and upgrading the Portsmouth high school auditorium. Phase one of this task involved renovating and improving the auditorium and was completed in september 2019. Our primary focus during fy 2020 was to set forth the tasks and strategy plan for phase two which is focused on the band rooms and classroom space behind the auditorium stage. In 2020, the kgmaa board surveyed the band and chorus teachers for input as to how to redesign and improve the band storage plan, music classrooms, and general area behind the auditorium stage. Due to covid-19, action plans were placed on hold somewhat but kgmaa continued to complete tasks necessary to implement phase two for band and chorus student benefit. Additional activities performed by the organization were identifying what are any necessary updates and purchases of additional equipment and continued training of staff to operate the equipment, as needed. As there was a product defect in the chair plaques, considerable time was spent dealing with the entity who sold kgmaa chair plaques in order to replace those plaques that were defective.in 2021, due to covid, there were not the usual number of scheduled meetings. In 2021, there were some difficulties with warranty and service on the sound system. The board researched alternative companies to provide services as necessary. The board also evaluated how the school system could better designate a staff member with expected continuity to provide support for the sound system and proper usage and maintenance.several name plates were installed in 2022 and some lavalier microphones that were defective were replaced.
