Fostering community involvement: funds community connectors who work with others towards finding common ground for protecting and enhancing the open, working landscapes of san benito county and adjacent lands. This has been done by the following:- conducting interviews to gain a better understanding of ranching families' perspectives, values, successes, and challenges related to ranching and farming, and to gather their suggestions.- providing monthly email updates to landowners/managers and other partners on available tools, resources, events, and opportunities related to the protection and enhancement of working landscapes in san benito county.- working to connect willing landowners and agencies/organizations around specific opportunities for sharing technical and financial resources to complete on-the-ground projects (e.g. Invasive weed management, habitat improvements, etc.)
Bacon ranch trail activation and improvements: this multi-phased project will create an accessible and informational hike from the east visitor center and campground to the historic bacon ranch. The hike will include a brochure/trail map and interpretive signs that describe the importance of the homestead to the Park and bear valley history. Phase 2 was completed in 2016 - design, fabrication $ installation of interpretive waysides.
Centennial & community events supported 5 large volunteer projects, National trails day, nps birthday, National public lands day/ bacon ranch ribbon cutting day, Pinnacles climber app days, and pinn volunteer bbq day.
The Pinnacles condor fund; camp Pinnacles program; and search & rescue program.
