Description
Piegan Institute promotes, researches and preserves Native American languages, especially the Blackfoot language of the Blackfeet tribe in Montana. Fluent speakers and teachers of the Blackfoot language are created through an immersive K-8 program. Funding is utilized to educate Blackfeet children in their native language and provides an important educational alternative in schools for families with a loving, challenging and rewarding environment.

Program areas at Piegan Institute

Funds are used to promote and educate blackfeet children in their native language. Funding provides an important educational alternative in the cuts wood blackfoot language immersion school (1995) for families with a loving, challenging and rewarding environment for 32 (k-8) students to gain a full education while learning to speak the blackfoot language. Alumni currently teach at the school. Piegan Institute does not seek state, federal or tribal funding.
