Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization nurtures young peoples curiosity, critical thinking, and desire to explore big questions through philosophy and ethics programs for students, educators, and families. PLATO aims to bring philosophy into the lives of young people and K-12 teachers and other educators. In 2022, over 3,000 educators and students participated in PLATO's online and in-person events, workshops, and classes. Additionally, over 45 Seattle public schools benefitted from PLATO's educational efforts.

Program areas at PLATO

Our program aims to bring philosophy into the lives of young people and K-12 teachers and other educators. In 2022, over 3,000 educators and students participated in PLATOs online and in-person events, workshops, and classes. Over 45 Seattle public school classrooms participated in regular philosophy sessions over the school year. More than 100,000 people visited our new resource-rich website. Our Philosopher-in-Residence Program expanded nationally and is now operating in three new high schools, and creative new high school and middle school offerings attracted students and teachers across the country and internationally.
