Program areas at PCPFC

NC Pre-Kindergarten-Pre-Kindergarten services were provided in Public Schools, Head Start programs in Public Schools and Not-For Profit Child Care facilities to at-risk four-year old children. Transportation was not provided children were served across 3.sites

Child Care and Education Quality-Child Care Resource and Referral provided child care referrals and parent educational informational articles to 1,021 parents across all service areas. In addition, recruitment of new child care providers as well as training and technical assistance for current and potential providers was conducted, with 17 child care facilities participating in the program. A Provider Appreciation Banquet was held in the spring and throughout the year, written resources were provided to the community. The focus of the program is advocate for child and family issues. onan Initiatives for Quality provided reimbursements to child care providers for college credit earned toward a certificate or degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. 20 child care facilities and 58 child care professionals participated in professional development supplements. Family Support-Service Promotion and Qutreach promotes ongoing community awareness of Smart Start funded services for young children and their families living in Person County, to parents of children ages birth to five, child care providers, the business community, elected leaders, churches and the general public. Through informational materials, quarterly newsletters, reqular reports the community regarding services and results, establishment of a speakers’ bureau and the development of a variety of Promotional tools, parents are linked with promoted services. 14 organizations participated in early childhood system planning and coordination. 1451 parents participated in Community Outreach Information and Resources and 1800 children/families are estimated to have been served through Partnership programs. Partners in Literacy promotes literacy-promoting activities for children and families of Person County. Books are provided to children through all programs and instruction to parents on parenw child reading techniques.
