Program areas at Pennsylvania Center for Poultry and Livestock Excellence
The Center provides producers biosecurity education via regional biosecurity workshops, education sessions, and webinars; individualized biosecurity plans; and biosecurity implementation grants to implement approved biosecurity plans.
Enhance animal agriculture infrastructure by funding the performance of a swot analysis for all of animal agriculture throughout Pennsylvania to assist in identifying economic impact, environmental footprint, regional challenges, and areas of growth for animal health and food safety. Additionally, animal health and disease prevention will be supported via student loan reimbursements over a five-year contract which will be awarded to two new veterinarians to serve western Pennsylvania, which currently lacks veterinarians and field diagnostics.
The Center funds research that meets industry need, as identified by producer feedback and leadership insight. Research projects are related to either small ruminants, swine or Poultry.
