Program areas at Participant

Jacob korczynski's exhibition research proposes an intergenerational dialogue between theresa hak kyung cha and jimmy robert - two artists whose connection emerges from his studies not in a traditional art history informed by the collection of painting and sculpture but rather one engaged in the 'minor' artforms:artists' books, film and video, and performance. For cha and robert all three of these media foster moments of intimacy with the viewer, inviting not only close proximity, but close readings that also extend to the corporeal experience of our encounter as viewers.
Marti wilkerson - the 4th golden cadillac, a mix of formal portaits and verite documentary photography by marti wilkerson, showcasing vintage prints alongside newer works. Feauturing subcultural subjects and neighborhood places, including tompkins square park, howie pyro, terence sellers, heather litteer, jayne county, and black performance cult.
Johanna constantine - conduit, which marks the artist's first solo exhibition including performance, sculpture, vintage and newly produced performance videos. Eight of constantine's iconic dance works were videotaped on-site for this exhibition. Conduit emphasizes and acknowledges constantine's lifework, channeling the struggle to survive in an uncertain environment.
ALL OTHER PROGRAMS Exhibitions, screenings, performances, and educational programs that served artists through in-depth consideration, presentation, and publishing of critical writing.
