Program areas at Parent Encouragement Program

Pep offers a wide variety of educational programs to help parents provide support and guidance to their children at different ages and stages of life and with different behavioral needs. In fy24, nearly 5,200 parents and caregivers registered for pep parenting programs, which included the following: 1) the pep family resiliency Program (pep-frp), offered in english, spanish and amharic, which helps parents and caregivers build their children's confidence, capabilities, and resilience. The pep-frp is delivered in partnership with public schools, primarily those located in high poverty areas. 2) pep master classes, which are 4-week online classes on foundational topics such as: using Encouragement to strengthen a child's confidence, redefining discipline, and understanding your child's behavior. 3) webinars and podcasts on topics such as 'talking with kids about substance use' in partnership with the montgomery county latino health initiative, and 'the power of presence' with author joy thomas moore. 4) pep also works with business and nonprofit clients to deliver parenting classes to their Parent constituencies; clients in fy24 included the u.s. agency for international development, git hub, port discovery children's museum, identity, moving dorchester forward, the montgomery county linkages to learning Program, and the greater Washington community foundation's brilliant futures Program.
