Program areas at PCEI

Americorps placement: the palouse-clearwater environmental institute (pcei), in conjunction with americorps, and serve Idaho, strives to increase volunteerism and community service in the inland northwest.

Environmental education: dedicated to providing quality environmental education programs to schools, community groups, and adults. Focus is on increasing awareness and knowledge of issues important to regional watersheds, developing critical thinking skills, and engaging participants in service projects that restore or enhance current watershed conditions. Our programs are highly interactive and promote hands-on exploration of the natural world. Programs are easily adaptable for all ages.

Restoration: dedicated to increasing public education about watershed conservation and increasing public involvement in watershed decisions. The watersheds program works to preserve, protect and restore ecosystems in the palouse-clearwater region. This work includes riparian and wetland restoration, watershed planning, water quality protection, biological monitoring, and a focus on native plants and wildlife. Projects are collaborative in nature and are always science-based and community- centered.
