Program areas at Oregon Repertory Singers

The Oregon Repertory Singers youth choirs (orsyc), established in 1994, provides music education and choral performance opportunities for children ages 4 to 18. Research has shown that children who sing in choirs perform better in school, develop strong social skills, and build confidence that benefits them throughout their lives. Orsyc uses the kodaly method in weekly musicianship classes accompanying rehearsals, a fun and engaging approach that teaches children to sing what they see and write what they hear. The youth choirs include several age-appropriate co-ed groups who perform several entertaining concerts throughout the year.
Oregon Repertory Singers' adult choir presents repertoire both rare and recognizable, encompassing a multitude of eras, languages, and musical styles. With over 100 members, the adult choir is comprised of a close community of Singers from all walks of life and many different communities throughout northwest Oregon and southwest Washington. Both experienced and versatile, the choir performs a wide variety of programming that promotes music from the newest generation of great composers alongside celebrated choral masterworks, as well as music from other cultures and countries, all with the earnest hope to leave audiences both entertained and inspired.
