Program areas at ORAM - Organization for Refuge Asylum and Migration
Kenya: this program is aimed at empowering lgbtiq refugees in both kakuma refugee camp and nairobi by providing skills and vocational skills trainings, mentorships, business mentoring and seed-funding to invest in small-scale businesses allowing lgbtiq refugees to generate income and become self-sufficient. Oram also provides capacity building to refugee led lgbtiq community-based organizations in kenya, to provide them with the tools and knowledge to support the lgbtiq refugee community at large. Ukraine response: Oram provides short-term and long-term shelter to lgbtiq ukrainians in germany and across europe, to help them settle in and build a new life in the cities they have fled to owing to the war in ukraine. Oram also provides case management to clients as part of our housing program in berlin and refers them to partners providing services not directly provided by Oram. Additionally, Oram has built a network of lgbtiq organizations providing support to queer ukrainians in all neighboring countries in order to assess the needs of organizations in the region and provide joint services where possible. Oram also provides digital and tech skills trainings, to help empower queer refugees to find employment in germany. Lastly, Oram organizes a number of community events, to help combat isolation within the queer refugee community in berlin.inclusion program: Oram facilitates lgbtiq inclusion training sessions aimed at building the capacity of a number of different stakeholders to gain the knowledge and tools to be able to provide support and protection to lgbtiq Asylum seekers and refugees in central and eastern europe, as well as kenya. Through this, Oram raises awareness and advocates for the unique needs of this community in first countries of Asylum and transit countries.
