Program areas at Opportunitywork

Opportunity@work's mission is to rewire the u.s. labor market so that all individuals who are skilled through alternative routes (stars) - instead of a bachelor's degree - can work, learn, and earn to their full potential. Opportunity@worOpportunityworkrk uses a data-driven strategy focused on both supply and demand to achieve greater economic mobility and racial equity on behalf of stars. Our overall strategy is focused on two interlocking pillars: (1) creating the stars talent category to spark demand for stars and (2) catalyzing vital data, analytics, and technology infrastructure for stars hiring into middle- and high- wage jobs at scale. (continued on schedule o)- creating the stars talent category to spark demand for stars: opportunity@worOpportunityworkrk leverages our foundational research, insights, and analytics to power a movement to establish stars, who gain their skills through paths like military service, certificate programs, community college, and on-the-job-learning, as a crucial skilled talent pool for middle- and high-wage jobs. Opportunity@worOpportunityworkrk increases awareness of stars as skilled workers, champions skills-based hiring, and enlists employers, public sector, and workforce partners to take action through the national tear the paper ceiling coalition with 50+ corporate and workforce partners, well-grounded in our stars insights and analytics, & stars research community, and the stars policy project.- catalyzing vital data and technology infrastructure for stars hiring into middle- and high-wage jobs at scale: stars are often "screened out" by traditional job search tools and methods; opportunity@worOpportunityworkrk and our coalition are building a fundamental "infrastructure for inclusion" to improve stars hiring outcomes and skills-based upward mobility. We've created a "one-stop shop" enabling stars to signal their skills in credible ways to employers. We've also built a network gateway application integration (api) layer to enable both established and emerging hr, talent, and job technology platforms, products, and communities to interconnect, linking employers, talent developers and stars to match supply and demand of overlooked talent based on stars' skills and good jobs that us industry needs to fill. Our stars mobility data model powers tools for employers to include stars in their workforce strategies and talent sourcing activities effectively, such as the stellarsight stars strategy dashboard and stars hiring playbooks. In the next decade, opportunity@worOpportunityworkrk aims to enable at least 1 million working adults in america to translate their learning into earning generating a $20 billion boost in annual earnings. By creating the stars talent category to spark demand and catalyzing vital data and technology infrastructure, opportunity@worOpportunityworkrk aims to accelerate the hiring of the 70m+ workers who are stars into career pathway middle-wage jobs and in doing so, will catalyze the rewiring of the u.s. The labor market so it works for all workers, no matter how they have developed their skills. Together with partners, we're piloting new flexible financing models for stars to help remove up-front cost barriers and reduce the risk of investing in training.
Talent financing solutions:we used two pilots to test innovative financing mechanisms (in this case, income share agreements), tracking repayment metrics after training to help us and the workforce development field to better understand the scalability of training and sustainability for different funders/investors.program service accomplishments:both the pilots we launched increased access to technical training and credentialing for people from low income, low credit background to finance their education and tie the financing of their training to career outcomes.
