Program areas at Opportunity Junction

Administrative careers training (formerly named job training and placement):program structure: prepares job seekers for administrative careers by combining computer training with life skills, paid work experience, case management, mental health services, career counseling, placement assistance, and long-term alumni services. Program was online until may 2022 because of covid-19impact: the program placed 32 graduates into initial employment, earning an average of $19.06/hour. In addition, 17 alumni were placed into new positions or advanced to an average of $23.03/hour. 67% of graduates retained employment at 18 months following placement.
Career counseling and placement assistance:program structure: provides career development, case management, and job placement services in antioch and in bay point, as part of sparkpoint contra costa. Services are primarily delivered in person with online services available as needed.impact: in fy2021-22, 12 participants were placed into positions earning an average of $21.04/hour (not including 6 alumni placed into new positions averaging $15.84/hour). 68% of graduates retained employment at 18 months following placement, despite pandemic challenges.
Healthcare career pathway program: program structure: starts with person-centered certified nursing assistant training, including professional development instruction, wrap-around support services, and placement assistance. Program is in person, and long-term alumni career advancement coaching is offered remotely. Impact: the program placed 54 graduates into initial employment, earning an average of $20.71/hour. In addition, 20 alumni were placed into new positions or advanced to an average of $22.73/hour. 75% of graduates retained employment at 18 months following placement.
Technology and career center:program structure: offers low-income clients no-cost computer access and assistance, resume and job search assistance, english as a second language instruction, and a rotating schedule of classes that includes basic and intermediate computer skills (in english and spanish). Because of the pandemic, computer and esl classes are delivered online over zoom, and in-person access is closed.impact: during fy2021-22, 217 people participated in evening classes and took typing tests needed for employment.
