Program areas at Operation Warrior Shield
Operation Canine Companion continues to receive awards for the work of providing Companion/Service dogs to those Veterans and First Responders who need support.Six canines were donated to individuals including veterans and first responders. The Doris Day Animal Foundation continues to be a strong supporter.
Other expenses include support to Veterans and other organizations that are consistent with the mission of OWS.
OWS held 4 Wellness events which were attended by NYC Department of Veterans Services, Mayors Office of Mental Health, NYPD, FDNY, Vietnam Veterans of America, Wounded Warrior Project, Brooklyn Borough Hall, and individual veterans. These sessions helped OWS towards its mission to heal the hidden wounds by giving confidence to those dealing with PTSD. OWS continued to gain support for their mission of Healing The Hidden Wounds by receiving NYC grants. The partnership with NYPDs Health Wellness Dept. resulted in additinal officers trained in TM and having OWS as the key note speaker at the NYPD Wellness Summit at the NYPD Police Academy.
