Program areas at OpenMRS
The OpenMRS community has seen significant progress with enhanced momentum across various squads; 14 active squads led by community organizations and over 40 active members contributing to weekly O3 community Zoom sessions. Hundreds of code reviews have been completed to accommodate squad and community contributions, along with improvements in documentation such as the Product Roadmap, O3 Backlog, Feature Tracker, and Performance FAQ. Major upgrades and bug fixes, including versions 3.0.0-beta.14, 3.0.0-beta.15/16, and the ongoing Liquibase upgrade, have helped to amplify O3's performance. Efforts were put in place to address slow API responses, and QA testing for RefApp 3.0.0-beta.18. In collaboration with PEPFAR's implementing partner Palladium-Kenya, capacity-building efforts took place during a hackathon focused on OpenMRS 3 features like Inventory and Billing via UHC. The Quarterly OpenMRS Virtual Community Meeting attracted over 100 attendees, featuring plenary sessions, lightning talks, and showcases on community sustainment and enhancement. There was increased recognition of the new OpenMRS Partner Badges, with two new partners added to the public page. The community continued to collaborate with partners on issues related to the CQL Engine and L3 complexity, providing technical assistance for adapting HIV DAK SMART guidelines to L3. Efforts were made to stabilize Mamba-ETL and prepare code for community consumption on OpenMRS GitHub. The first OpenMRS RefApp Icon Pack was released, and auto-translation for the RefApp was enabled to receive updates from the Transifex tool, with French and other languages supported. Socialization of Offline Mode for Community Outreach and support for squad setup were also key highlights. Additionally, a 3rd Party Penetration Testing process was completed for the O3 RefApp, with plans for a CyberSecurity hackathon later in 2024. Work on Detailed Audit Logging and capacity building within the OpenMRS Academy continues, with a first draft of the O3 Developers knowledge assessment quiz and updated guidance based on in-country feedback.
