Open Schools worldwide, inc.responds to the educational needs of children who are shut out of the traditional school system or are at risk of educational failure for reasons beyond their control. It aims at developing compassionate relationship and a supportive environment to overcome trauma and some of the obstacles to learning. These children are taught by trained volunteers using an interactive proprietary curriculum for teaching literacy and numeracy skills. Life skills are taught through games. In 2018 there were over 6,000 children enrolled in the program in south africa, zambis, zimbabwe, kenya, and ethiopia. Children in zimbabwe are from the bushman tribe and the binga tribe. The government doesn't provide Schools for either of these groups. In zambia, near victoria falls, sufficient volunteers are trained for 200 children, which the leaders believed to be the maximum that would show up. On the first day of classes more than one thousand children along with their parents showed up. The parents wanted classes for themselves, because they hadn't learned to read or write. Programs in south africa are located in soweto, hammanskraal, moiplaas, mathibeste, and along the coast. Many request come from africa, including kenya, uganda, and nigeria. Open Schools World Wide, Inc. is also known in kenya as empower hope, which provides education, equality, and entrepreneurship training for children and young adults. In 2018 an adventure camp - christmas camp - was operated for 56 children. Various leadership training opportunity were provided for post graduate youth and ambassador leadership/mentorship training was provided for twenty-five young people. A soccer initiative trained 75 boys in the slum community of hurma so they could give back by training other boys, in addition the following training sessions were offered:* huruma tembea provided education for 90 youth between the ages of 7 - 15. * tembea rite of passage camp provided services for 100 youth. * nembea nami provided training for two hundred young mothers. * skills training was provided for twelve at mt. Eldoret, who are overseeing an ongoing construction project at acts of mercy orphanage - dormitory/school/kitchen. * nine students were provided tuition to a secondary university. * fifty-five students were provided with preschool in kwangware. * a family of six were provided monthly relief.
