Program areas at The Oakland REACH
Programming: Expanded our Literacy Liberator program in partnership with Oakland Unified School District to train 30 Fellows to provide literacy tutoring in public schools. Began strategic planning to expand the program to math in the next fiscal year.
Growth/Replication: Began codifying some programs to share with other cities to help them implement. Goal is to host an event the following fiscal year to share our model and support cities that want to replicate.
Advocacy: OUR FAMILY ADVOCACY FELLOWSHIP educates parents and grandparents about the state of public education, the performance of our schools, and the school choices available. This knowledge empowers Fellowship graduates to use their voices to demand a high quality education for their children. Since December 2016, nearly 400 public school parents have graduated from the fellowship.
