Health Services for Native Americans

The next highest expenditure was the Comprehensive Approach to Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Under this grant, funds are used to support chronic disease prevention including heart disease, stroke, and type-2 diabetes through policy, systems, and built environment changes with direct funding to tribes and through providing technical assistance.

The highest expenditure program in FY 2017 was the ISDEAA contract with HHS. Under that contract the NPAIHB arranged for quarterly consultations between the Indian Service and the official representatives of the 43 member tribes of NPAIHB. It also provided Suicide Prevention workshops, FASD education and diagnostic services, Dental Support Center consultants and training to tribes, HIV and HepC outreach and Education.
