Program areas at Northwest Mathematics Conference & Oregon Mathematics Leaders
The Northwest Mathematics Conference is held every year in the month of October, and every third year is hosted by OCTM in Oregon. Keynote speakers offer vision and challenge to math educators, sessions focus on effective classroom instruction, current standards and curriculum, and technology to improve student understanding and performance. Preparing for NWMC is a multi-year endeavor, and this year's work focused on reserving a site for the conference (past attendance between 1000 and 1200 teachers), attending other professional conferences to gain speakers and contacting exhibitors for the conference in October 2023.
The Oregon Mathematics Teacher is a professional journal published 4 times during the school year. It includes grade-level activities, discourse on effective practices and sample lesson plans designed to teach problem-solving skills. It is included as part of membership.
Oregon Math Leaders is a conference for K-12 math teachers, usually held in August. It provides sessions on effective instructional strategies, current standards and curriculum, and the latest updates from the Oregon Dept. of Education.
