Program areas at Northside Residents Redevelopment Council

Community Safety Specialists (CSS): We worked in the neighborhoods of Willard Hay and Near North through the CSS program. We worked with resident to begin establishing block captains for CSS, to assist with building quality lines of communications between residents and CSS journeymen. We also been finalizing the apprentice trainings. We currently have recruited 512 volunteers and are currently working to on-board them to assist with the safety efforts in the neighborhood. We have secured relationships with the schools, parks and community centers in the NRRC zone. The progress of this initiative is tracked through apprentice end of the day reports which document each apprentices activities for the day which include personal contacts establish, any incidents that have been addressed as well has hours spent at each site.
NRRC works with a CDFI to provide low-income loans and assistance to homeowners.
As a neighborhood organization, NRRC provides a vehicle for Willard Hay and Near North residents to improve their quality of life and address difficult issues facing the community. NRRC also coordinates programs and services by partnering with the city of Minneapolis and partners with developers on economic development projects in North Minneapolis. In 2022, NRRC's special projects included: *training residents on financial literacy *increasing resident participation in Organics Recycling *increasing resident participation in water saving and families thrive *increasing resident participation in Organics Recycling *increasing resident participation in water saving techniques with an emphasis on rain barrels *the administration of emergency, senior, and rehab loans along with first time home buyers down payment *added a chicken coop and community garden at 1303 Golden Valley through the development and mentoriship of the Youth Green Team
