Program areas at North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition
During 2022, nchrc distributed over 20,000 naloxene kits to people at risk of experiencing or witnessing an overdose across nc, and we received 2,000 reports of successful overdose reversals using our naloxone. We also worked with over 5,000 unique participants at our 8 statewide syringe services programs, equipping people with sterile supplies and education for safer use, as well as health referrals and unconditional support. Additionally during 2022, we made over 1,000 linkages to care, connecting people to healthcare, treatment, and other health and social resources as guided by their needs. We continued to scale up the wraparound supportive services offered by our programs, such as operating an onsite food bank at the wake ssp or offering vaccine street outreach at the durham ssp. In addition, nchrc provided training and technical assistance on Harm Reduction topics to diverse stakeholders across nc, including those in the fields of public health, medicine, law enforcement, social work, and education, including through our collaborative technical assistance partnership with unc's formerly incarcerated transitions program and the duke opioid collaboratory.
