Program areas at Human Services Coalition of Prince Georges County
Food insecurity program - established in 2020 by the office of the County executive, stand up & deliver is an innovative and targeted solution to build capacity for community-based organizations and small businesses to address the food insecurity and basic needs of our fellow Prince georgians. Each year, the County hosts several holiday food distributions reaching more than 3,000 low-income households (touching almost 15,000 residents) specifically targeting veterans, disabled residents and seniors.
Other programs: include collective community check-inconsists on monthly meetings designed to provide nonprofit professional a professional support and the opportunity to check in from across the County to directly from organizations, engage in resource collection and sharing, and development collective ideas to enhance problem-solving. Courageous conversation is a discussion series designed to hear and learn from various subject matter experts on racial and social injustice issues.
Capacity building - monthly workshops that includes networking and interacting with community leaders, public officials, and for sharing ideas and collaboration opportunities. These workshops enhance the skillsets of nonprofit organizations and support health organization growth. Workshops are topical and relevant, addressing current needs and promoting collaboration.
