Research: with the 2024 presidential election cycle underway, the Nilc Immigrant Justice Fund (ijf) began an opposition research project to generate unique, impactful content that highlights the extreme positions of candidates pursuing the republican nomination for president. Ijf analyzed the various policy positions and built a landing page on ijf's website so candidates, partners, and other stakeholders can access the information. Messaging and polling: ijf initiated qualitative research on the mindsets of the 2024 electorate. Research included conducting focus groups to understand the messages that move voters in different demographic groups. Ijf developed a poll to measure voter support for a range of Immigrant and immigration policies pertinent to the 2024 elections. Ijf will share these findings with a broader group of movement partners to help facilitate a unified, strategic communications approach to these issues. Policy scorecard: ijf created a process and standard by which to measure the official actions of elected officials, such as their votes and sponsorship of pro-immigrant and anti-immigrant legislation.
