Program areas at NextOp

See Schedule O.VETERANS: NextOp employment programming is dedicated to facilitating veterans' successful transition from military service to civilian careers as seamlessly as possible. The NextOp employment team works 1:1 with service members on career and industry identification, skill translation, upskill or reskill opportunities, resume development and refinement, and interview skills to help each candidate secure interviews and, ultimately, a career in the industry/company/specific role that they are seeking. Our candidates comprise the most diverse population within the Department of Defense - the middle enlisted ranks - and are uniquely positioned to bring their soft skills and world experiences to the private sector, but often lack the network, understanding of the industry and career options, and specific certifications to access interviews and hiring representatives without our help. NextOp bridges the gap for companies interested in veteran talent but needs to learn how to directly access and connect with the population, especially before or as they depart the active-duty component.EVENTS: NextOp plans and hosts various seminars, workshops, and other programming events related to veteran workforce development, employment, networking, and corporate partner relationship management programming, typically throughout the country. MENTORSHIP: Military Candidates can easily register via our website and are assessed by our staff during a thorough intake. They are assigned to one of our employment coordinators, who coach and mentor them throughout the employment preparation and placement process - and beyond. Additionally, NextOp works closely to connect our candidates and their family members with other mentorship programs and resources to ensure a successful transition to the civilian community and workforce for themselves and their families. CORPORATE PARTNERS: NextOp's Corporate Partners are among the most well-respected companies in industries who truly value military skills and experience. NextOp works with our Corporate Partners to develop a military-friendly work culture centered on establishing a veteran affinity group and streamlining military recruiting processes. NextOp meets companies where they are at to support their veteran employment goals, whether consulting on establishing veteran hiring initiatives, evaluating past progress and establishing next steps, speaking to key stakeholder groups within companies to highlight the veteran employee value proposition, and dispel any myths, etc. Emerging from the impacts of Covid, NextOp experienced fairly significant team turnover, which impacted overall placement numbers. Despite the headwinds, the NextOp team helped successfully place 408 veterans with 293 different Employers and Partners, at an average starting salary of $62,843 in 2022, an average salary increase of $4,908 over 2021.
