Program areas at NYSID

Nysid's single purpose and, therefore, program opportunity is to provide employment opportunities for New yorkers with significant disabilities. During this reporting period, the number of individuals with disabilities working on nysid preferred source contracts totaled 5,583 (earnings and wages in excess of $72.9 million). Preferred source employment provides social and economic advantages to people and fiscal support to New York State. By employing people rather than subsidizing them, nysid jobs make connections to better lives for the thousands of individuals working at member agency production facilities and community placements.
