Program areas at New Ways Ministry
The Social Media or Digital Outreach Project includes a website, publication of a daily blog on LGBTQ Catholic issues, multiple social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIN, and an email list.
The Educational Outreach Project includes workshops, meetings, presentations for groups, trainings for Catholic schools and parishes, webinars and zoom gatherings about Synodality.
Twelve U.S. Catholic bishops met at St. Louis University with trans, non-binary, and intersex persons, medical professionals, theologians, a pastoral minister, a parent, and a lawyer to discuss pastoral approaches of ministry to trans, non-binary, and intersex persons.
The International Program promotes LGBTQ education and solicits information beyond the U.S. Two New Ways Ministry staff members attended the international Catholic Synod in Rome in October 2023, as press representatives for Bondings 2.0.
The Womanjourney Weavings Project renamed itselt "Weaving the Journey." This project presents educational and supportive programs for lesbian nuns, congregational leaders, formation/vocation personnel and all congregations of women religious. New Ways Ministry sponsored a retreat for lesbian and queer members of religious congregations at Siena Retreat Center in Racine, Wisconsin. Sept. 14-17, 2023, for 27 women religious.
The CMI project supports spiritual development for gay priests, deacons, and men religious. This program included a retreat for gay priests, brothers, and deacons at Siena Retreat Center in Racine, Wisconsin, May 23-26, 2023, for 21 retreatants.
The Networking Project provides a means to network with other Catholic or LGBTQ organizations. New Ways Ministry networked with the Association of U.S. Catholic Priests, Catholic Organizations for Renewal, the Ignatian Solidarity Network, Outreach, LCWR, and the American Academy of Theologians.
The Catholic Parents Network project supported a retreat for LGBTQ Catholics, parents, pastoral ministers, and other interested persons, Feb. 16-18, 2024. James Alison facilitated the retreat at Siena Retreat Center in Racine, Wisconsin. for 34 retreatants.
