Program areas at New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence
The New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence (nmcadv) is a statewide organization with a national reach. The organization supports New Mexico Domestic Violence programs, in a variety of ways, all designed to build program capacity to serve families and communities affected by Domestic Violence. Nmcadv coordinates and leads an effective response to dv through collaborations and partnerships with multi-disciplinary groups. Nmcadv provides cutting-edge training and assistance including an innovative program to ensure that services are trauma informed. Nmcadv developed and supports a program to serve children exposed to Domestic Violence, using innovative strategies and that program is in its fifth successful year. The key to nmcadv's effectiveness is a commitment to innovation and to finding creative ways to provide help and support to programs that serve victims and their families. We lead and/or coordinate major policy efforts across the state. We are engaged in a planning process, which engages membership to explore possibilities for creating the future of Domestic Violence services in nm. Nmcadv led national efforts to explore the effectiveness of services to those who commit Domestic Violence and the organization developed and produced two, first-of-their-kind, national conferences on messaging about Domestic Violence. Currently, nmcadv is exploring trauma-informed, evidence-based models of services and developing well-researched performance and evaluation measures to guide our efforts. Because of the rural nature of most of New Mexico, many Domestic Violence programs would lack access to innovative training, information, and assistance were it not for the efforts of the nmcadv. To increase access to training and support statewide, we use a variety of methods including in-person training on a regular basis in all areas of the state, as well as online training and peer trainers. The nmcadv staff mission, to which we strongly adhere, is to continuously and significantly increase value for members, stakeholders, and funders, now and in the future.
