Program areas at New England Dream Center
Social services: the Center's two main programs were an adult day health care and social day care. The adult day health care program provided frail adults experiencing physical, mental, or social problems associated with stroke, isolation, confusion, and other conditions with the opportunity to meet New people, participate in challenging activities and enjoy life in comfortable surroundings. The social day care program provided a safe, active, and comfortable place for elderly individuals, while providing temporary relief for primary caretakers. Participants enjoyed a variety of social, cultural, and recreational activities in a supervised setting. Both programs were supported by a transportation program that provides safe, dependable transportation between the participant's home or nursing facility to the program. Other programs included nutritional programs for the elderly and case management support for children and families in the foster care system.
Cultural and arts: the Center's cultural and arts program provides the Center's children and teen participants with the access to instruments, music and the dramatic arts. Performances are produced as a means to teach diversity, cultural, religious, and team concepts.
Community outreach: these programs provide assistance and supportive services to the children, youth, and families of the greater worcester area. The Center's "dreams and wishes" program provides gifts to needy families and foster children during the christmas and holiday season.
