The mission of St Petersburg Neighborhood Housing Services (nhs) is to provide affordable Housing and homeownership solutions for individuals and families. Nhs is a non-profit Neighborhood revitalization and community Housing development organization formed in 1980. It was established to stimulate reinvestment in blighted neighborhoods through a working partnership of residents, government, the business community, lending institutions, and key national partners. Nhs relies on research, uses market studies, conducts focus groups, initiates model block projects, promotes Neighborhood enhancement campaigns to collect data, fashion proven strategies, identify best practices, foster pride, and build active involvement. Nhs collaborates with various agencies and organizations to achieve strategic educational, cultural, and economic development goals related to its mission. The organization predominately serves low to moderate income residents of the community, its education and advocacy programs are available to all residents, regardless of income who seek assistance. Nhs is aggressively engaged acting as an advocate for distressed homeowners to mitigate foreclosure actions. Goals -broaden community awareness and credibility of our organization to a level where nhs is widely recognized as a reliable community leader and a catalyst for change - expand and enhance our homebuyer and homeowner assistance programs - increase Services to help residents access and sustain quality homeownership and create new, innovative programs to overcome the hurdles imposed by the economy -adapt, due to the economy, its financial education and home management programs in order to reduce the number of financially fragile households -provide foreclosure prevention and intervention education to keep families in their homes and prevent homelessness -develop diverse and sustainable revenue streams sufficient to maintain our financial health and viability.
