The Warming Station was open 127 nights this year with the season ending March 31 No congregate shelter was again provided this year due to COVID concerns and lack of volunteers. The Warming Station was open for intake and processing for two hours in the evening. Motel vouchers were provided to individuals at that time as well as clothing, laundry vouchers, mail services and other miscellaneous support to homeless individuals. Total number of individuals housed was 165. The total number of motel vouchers issued for the period of November 1 through April 30 was 921. Total number of individual lodging nights for the period was 1642. The average number of individuals sheltered each night during this period was 12.9.
Veda's Cafe is the name of N2N's food service. Due to budget, COVID and lack of volunteers, no food was again cooked at Veda's Cafe this year. Limited snacks were provided each night the Warming Station was open for the homeless individuals being sheltered with the motel voucher system. All food was provided in take-out form. Snacks were also provided at the Day Center and could be consumed there or taken out. Coffee and hot cocoa were always available.
Operation of the Pendleton Day Center: The Day Center provides homeless individuals shelter from the elements during selected hours of the day when temperatures are cold or extremely hot. The Day Center also is open Mondays in the afternoon for showers, mail services, laundry vouchers, snacks, and other support services to homeless individuals. The Day Center can provide short term lodging for homeless individuals with special needs such as illness or when with small children. For the reporting period, the Day center was open 36 days, served 109 individuals and received approximately 376 visits.
