Program areas at The National Theatre Foundation
Ntf works with The nederlander organization to program The main stage season, which returned in november 2021 following covid-19. In fiscal year 2022, there were 6 touring broadway productions at The National. In addition to main stage programming, ntf presents three free community engagement programs that include "saturday morning live! At The National", "community stage connections", and "teens behind The scenes". In fiscal year 2022, "saturday morning live!" Presented 15 virtual episodes in collaboration with five partners to engage and inspire children aged 4 - 10 years old as children and their families navigated The pandemic. These programs are free for The audiences and are hosted on facebook and are archived on ntf's website and youtube page.the "community stage connections" program pays a roster of local artists to perform at local community organizations for those individuals who face barriers to performance arts experiences. Venues include senior citizen centers, The dc public libraries, and children's National hospital. These performances are free for The audiences. In fiscal year 2022, ntf continued virtual and in-person events. In fiscal year 2022, ntf hosted 30 performances and one workshop that partnered with The social justice school in dc. "teens behind The scenes" welcomed students back to attend performances in The broadway at The National season. Students participated for free and received a study guide created by ntf's dramaturg. In fiscal year 2022, ntf welcome students to 5 events. Interviews with guests from The productions were conducted virtually and shared with The students after The event. Ntf moved forward with The National Theatre archive initiative in fiscal year 2022 by hiring an archivist to process The collection of materials and guide The creation of a collection finding aid.
